The "Vidzemes Olympic centre" (VOC) was launched in 2005. Sports centre was founded to promote sport development possibilities in city Valmiera and in region of Vidzeme, to create qualitative academic training base for high level national and international sportsmen, as well as improve inhabitants sport`s culture and health level. Mission of the Olympic center is to become a centre of leading sport kinds, as well as a place for trainings, recreation and cultural events, where qualitative services for all of visitors are ensured. In first floor there is an ice hall with 58x28 m large hockey area and in second floor level stationary tribune is situated, which ensures 532 seats for spectators. Multifunctional hall has polyfunctional sport playing grounds. It is possible to divide it to three training areas in the same time. There is a movable tribune in the hall providing seats for 1496 spectator. Total size of the hall is 44 x 68 m. The hall can also be used for trainings, local, regional or international competitions, exhibitions and concerts. In the first floor there is also a conference hall, skates rental and hockey inventory shop "Hokeja pasaule". In the second floor there is a fitness club "Spēka pasaule", which is equipped with firm "Panatta" sports inventory, solarium, infrared sauna, massage cabinet, as well as physic cabinet, café "Sporta bārs", where you can have a meal and watch hockey area at the same time, because one of the walls in café is made only from glass. Beside the sports complex "Vidzemes Olympic centre" there is a hotel "Naktsmājas". Hotel offers 39 comfortable, facilitated rooms for groups or individual visitors. There are different kinds and levels of hockey, basketball and floorball championships taking place in the sports centre. In the ice hall of "Vidzemes Olympic centre" Vidzemes open championship and Vidzeme's Olympic centre cup games in hockey constantly take place, as well as Riga's open championship (Latvia 1. league), independent amateur hockey league and Latvian youth league games.
